misty paths

smell the fresh air of the sky
of cold winds passing by
moving distant grey clouds
on this rainy day

hear the mountain’s faint sound
up above the world we know
still he stands in the storm
old wise tall and proud

watch the raindrops on the ground
building rivers in the sand
flowing swiftly down the slopes
to the sea so far away

have you ever thought about the paths that you take?
all the branchings and choices
they say there’s no false step you won’t fall down
but better take care on your way

as the sunlight’s finally dimming
the signs of storm vanish
and the world is fading into
the sleepy dark of night

far off a sudden rainbow
starts gleaming through the mist
like a sign of coming fortune
that is somehow calling us

the black cold is rising steady
cloaking every living thing
close your eyes and don’t be afraid
so much more tomorrow’ll bring

have you ever thought about the paths you take?
all the branchings and choices
they say there’s no false step you won’t fall down
but better take care on your way

have you ever thought about the roads you go?
all the joys and pains
they say there’s no answer to the questions of time
but what do they know anyway?

the story ends with nightfall
though the history goes on
and i hope you’ve found the answers
to the questions on your mind
